Botulinum Application
Botulinum application is an application applied to lighten or lose facial expression lines.
It is applied to the vertical lines between the frown muscles in the face area, the horizontal lines on the forehead and the lines we call the crow’s feet around the eyes. In addition, aesthetic applications are made on the rabbit lines and neck bands towards the dorsal edge of the nose. It should also be noted that the lines desired to be lost in botulinum application may not be completely lost depending on the depth. It can also be used in the treatment of excessive sweating of the armpits, palms and soles.
It is also used in the treatment of eye strabismus, in the treatment of diseases such as cerebral palsy, in the treatment of hemifacial muscle spasms and in the treatment of chronic migraine pain. It is also used in the treatment of cases where the chewing muscles are overworked to make the gums less visible in order to achieve an aesthetic smile.
The procedure is performed by applying the appropriate dose of the drug with small needles after the application of local anesthetic cream to the application areas. After the procedure, minor redness may occur at the application points for a few hours and these usually disappear on their own.
Massage should not be applied to the treatment areas on the first day after the application. The effect of botulinum application begins to be seen within 4-7 days after the procedure and wrinkles are reduced in the application areas.
Its persistence lasts for 4-6 months, but this time interval varies from person to person. The most common side effects of botulinum application in aesthetic facial applications are temporary bruises that may occur at the application points and temporary pain at the application points. Even if these possibilities do occur, they are temporary.
The drug can be administered to patients older than 18 years of age who do not have muscle diseases such as Myasthenia Gravis, if there is no skin damage or infection in the application areas, if the patient is not pregnant and does not breastfeed.
